What "managed knitwear manufacturing" actually means.
Klothewala is a managed knitwear manufacturing partner based in Tirupur, India, with a client team in Bangalore. We work with small and growing fashion brands from a minimum of 200 pieces per design. Unlike a traditional factory or sourcing agent, we provide a single named contact who manages your order end to end — sample, production, quality control, and dispatch.

Standard terms are 50% advance against a sample you've already approved, 50% before dispatch. We invoice in USD, GBP, EUR, AED or AUD as needed and accept wire or Wise. Nothing enters bulk production until the physical sample is signed off. First-time international buyers can also discuss an LC arrangement on larger orders.

How a managed order actually runs.
Five clear stages. One named contact stays with your order across all of them. Typical end-to-end timeline for a 200–1,000 piece run is 45–55 days.

Brief
Day 0–2Send us your tech pack — or just a Pinterest board and a target price. We come back within 48 hours with a clear costing, fabric recommendation, and timeline.
02
Sample
14 days, typicalWe make a development sample at our own unit, photograph it on a model and on a flat lay, and ship it to you for approval. Revisions are part of the process — not extras.
03
Production
30–40 daysOnce the sample is signed off and the deposit is in, we move into bulk. You get a milestone update at fabric in, cutting done, sewing complete, and finishing.

Quality control
Final 3–5 daysInline checks during sewing plus a final inspection against your spec. Anything off gets reworked before the carton is sealed.
05
Dispatch
Day 45–55We polybag, label, carton-mark, and hand over to your nominated freight forwarder — or arrange CIF / FOB ourselves. You get a packing list and photographs before the truck leaves.

T-Shirts
100% cotton, CVC, and polyester blends. Round neck, V-neck, oversized, drop-shoulder. Screen, DTG, sublimation, embroidery.
Hoodies
Pullover and zip-front in french terry, brushed fleece, and loopback. Oversized fits, custom drawcords, woven labels.
Polos
Pique and interlock knit, contrast plackets, tipped collars. Workhorse for corporate and retail brands.
Activewear
Moisture-wicking, 4-way stretch, recycled poly blends. Built for performance brands and gym labels.
Sweatshirts
Crew neck and raglan with brushed fleece lining. Strong for autumn and winter drops.
Private label
Woven labels, hang tags, polybags, neck prints, custom packaging, carton marking — all done in-house.
What actually drives the price.
We do not publish a rate card because every order is different. What we can do is walk you through the four levers that move per-piece cost up or down — so you can decide where to spend and where to save.
Fabric and GSM
The single biggest lever. A 180 GSM cotton tee and a 240 GSM ringspun tee come out at different price points — we walk you through which is right for your positioning.
Order quantity
Per-piece cost drops at 500, then again at 1,000+. We will tell you upfront where your order sits and whether scaling up makes sense for your launch.
Print and embroidery
Screen print is cheapest at volume. DTG suits short runs and full-colour artwork. Embroidery and patches add cost — but lift perceived value. We quote each method separately.
Finishing and packaging
Woven labels, hang tags, polybags, and folded vs hanger pack all affect landed cost. Standard private label is included in our base quote; premium packaging is a line item.

Who we work with.

Brands switching from Bangladesh and China because the MOQ is too high or the communication too thin. Klothewala is set up for English-speaking buyers in a comparable time zone.
We ship CIF or FOB ex-Tirupur to Sydney, Melbourne, Dubai, and Sharjah. Short freight legs, no customs surprises — we've done the paperwork before.
Smaller brands that don't qualify for the big sourcing agents. We work directly with the founder, often on WhatsApp, often outside US business hours.
Our Bangalore client team handles Indian buyers face-to-face when needed. Same managed model, in INR, no shipping abroad.
Questions we hear most often.
From confirmed brief to dispatch, plan on 45–55 days for a typical 200–1,000 piece order. Sampling is 14 days, production is 30–40 days, and quality control plus dispatch is the final 3–5. We give you a milestone-by-milestone timeline at the quote stage and update it as we go.
Our minimum is 200 pieces per design per colourway. That is intentionally lower than most factories, which sit at 500 or 1,000. We hold standards on the small runs because the per-piece quality is what brings you back for the second order.
A manufacturer owns and runs the factory; a sourcing agent places your order at one of several factories on your behalf. Both have a role — agents are useful when you need many product categories from many places. For knitwear specifically, going direct to a manufacturer-led managed partner removes a commission layer and gives you a single accountable contact.
Yes. We accept 200 piece orders across t-shirts, hoodies, polos, activewear, and sweatshirts. The trade-off at 200 pieces is per-piece price — costs come down meaningfully at 500 and again at 1,000. We will show you both numbers in the quote so you can decide.
End-to-end means a single partner handles every step: brief, fabric sourcing, sampling, bulk production, quality control, finishing, packaging, and dispatch. You don't separately appoint a sampling unit, a factory, a QC agent, and a logistics provider. That is what Klothewala's managed model gives you.
Ask for the unit address, GSTIN, a video walkthrough of the production floor, and references from current clients with similar order sizes. Real manufacturers have all four. We share ours as part of the quote conversation — no NDA dance.
