How do you import fabric from India to the UK duty-free?

Duty
0% on Indian fabric (HS 52, 53, 60) and apparel with a valid origin declaration. VAT is still due at import.
Origin rule
Change of tariff heading plus 35–40% Indian value. Cotton grown and spun in India passes; we check linen woven from imported yarn fabric by fabric.
Paperwork
Commercial invoice, packing list and a CETA origin declaration registered through India’s DGFT platform.
Terms
FOB Chennai or Tuticorin, CIF to a UK port, or delivered duty paid to your warehouse.
Labelling
UK rules require fibre composition labels on finished goods; we supply exact composition and care data with each lot.

Frequently asked questions

No, as of 15 July 2026. The India–UK CETA removed duty on 1,143 textile tariff lines. Fabric previously paid 8% and apparel 12%. You still pay import VAT.

A CETA origin declaration from the exporter on the invoice, plus the usual commercial invoice and packing list. We prepare and register it.
