India does not grow textile flax. About three-quarters of the world’s long flax fibre comes from France, Belgium and the Netherlands, and India is its second-largest export market. Indian spinners such as Jaya Shree (Grasim) spin that flax into yarn, and Indian mills weave and finish it.
For buyers, this means European fibre quality at Indian weaving and finishing costs. Ask for flax origin documents if your product claims European flax.
The India–UK CETA gives 0% duty on Indian fabric that meets its origin rules, which require 35–40% Indian value. Linen woven in India from imported European yarn can fall short of that test. We check origin for each linen fabric and tell you in the quote whether it enters the UK at 0% or the standard 8%.
Tell us the fabric, weight, quantity and destination. We reply within one working day with options from our mills and a swatch card offer.
No. India grows no textile flax. Indian linen is spun and woven from flax grown mainly in France, Belgium and the Netherlands, which supply about 75% of the world’s long flax fibre.
200 kg per fabric. For 150 GSM linen at 145 cm wide that is about 920 m.
Indicative FOB prices in October 2026 are about $3.50–6.00 per metre for 100% linen and $2.50–4.00 per metre for cotton-linen blends, depending on weight and finish.
Only if it meets the India–UK CETA origin rules. Linen woven from imported yarn may not qualify, so we check each fabric and state the duty in your quote.
